Craiova Court of Appeal began operating in 1993 and carries out its activity in accordance with the provisions of the Law no. 304/2004 on the judicial organization as amended and supplemented by the Law no. 247/2005 on the reform in property and justice, as well as some ancillary measures.
The Court headquarters is in the city of Craiova, old town with historical attestation, located in the center of Oltenia region, also called the capital of Oltenia . Until 2011, the Court has been operating in Băilişteanu House located on Nicolae Titulescu Boulevard, historical monument of special architectural value.
The Court now has a new, modern headquarters, located in 5A, Constantin Brâncuşi Street. The Court has five courtrooms, access to four of the courtrooms (rooms of the Sections for Civil and Contentious Administrative and Tax Matters) being through the main hall of the building, and the courtroom and offices of the Section for Criminal Matters are in the right wing of the building.
The overall layout of the new building is likely to ensure separate access and flows for court staff, litigants, detainees and auxiliary departments of the Court of Appeal in Craiova, a number of five courtrooms and an adequate number of offices for the staff of the Court of Appeal, ensuring a net area of about 2,400 square meters of a total of 4,443 square meters, which contains 3 buildings, an access road and parking.
The new location will serve as the headquarters of the Court until completion of the building of the Palace of Justice, which will house the headquarters of Craiova Court of Appeal and Dolj Regional Court.
Within the competence of Craiova Court of Appeal are distributed four courts, namely: Dolj Regional Court, Gorj Regional Court, Mehedinţi Regional Court and Olt Regional Court.
